Hi, I’m Monica,
a family photographer,
based in Freehold, NJ.
Serving Freehold, Millstone, West Windsor, Lawrenceville, and Princeton, NJ.
The best part about being a kid is how easy it is to live each moment freely and without a care in the world.
I have a particular love for documenting the wonder, free-spirit and curiosity of those early childhood years.
Capturing those playful moments before schedules get filled up with sports and recitals and while their not yet too cool for pictures with their parents!
Why I focus on children’s photography…
There I am, high up in the trees, holding on tight to a tree branch as I quickly pose for my dad’s picture. Funny to have this image because I was actually always scared of heights.
I have memories of driving with my dad to get our pictures developed. Watching him place our Kodak rolls of film inside those white envelopes and handing them over to the person behind the register.
I so loved that process. The excitement and anticipation of waiting. The comfort that came from flipping through those pictures and of having them all throughout my childhood home.
It makes me sad knowing that tradition is now gone.
Our phones and feeds fill so quickly, it makes it harder and harder to revisit all those moments we captured.
The tradition of printing takes more time and effort now that it’s not surprising I so often hear “It’s on my list” or “I’ve been procrastinating to print!”.
That’s why I wholeheartedly love what I do!
I’m here to create print-worthy images of your family that you’ll love and help you preserve them.
Images that will bring comfort and smiles over the years, evoke laughter and storytelling, and then get handed off to your children when they’re older.
Before Child & Family Photography
I studied Counseling as a graduate student and worked in a social skills program for children. But life took me in a more creative direction when I fell into a design and marketing role for an interior design/architecture firm and then again later for the Princeton hospital’s community wellness program. For the same hospital I also photographed over 100 newborns and NICU babies through Bella Baby… I’ve never held so many babies in such a short span! In earlier years, I also volunteered as a photographer for the ASPCA animal shelter, helping animals find homes through the photos I took of them.
Photography Means a Sense of Comfort
Making your family feel comfortable during sessions is so important to me. Even I still get butterflies when meeting clients for the first time, so I love working with families who want to be photographed more routinely so that over time we all feel more like friends than strangers.
Adding warmth and comfort into your home through the photos I capture and making you happy makes me so happy.
Besides capturing memories, here are some other things that bring me JOY
Cups of hot tea.
Rainy days and staying in pj’s.
Puzzles and scrabble.
Getting distracted by all the beautiful things in nature.
Evening walks with my husband and our cats out in their stroller!
Oh and nothing better than snuggling with these three 🙂
